The China Card~ CZI above 29.68
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner testified to the Senate Finance Committee on The Hill today, opening with the usual positive accomplishment statements, quickly saddled with Senator complaints about China trade.
The CNBC link was time sensitive, and so far CSPAN has not posted the hearings. They should be required viewing for all citizens who think and vote.

It was not a happy time, with Senators quarreling over who was first for pre-election sound bites, and Senators Baucus, Bunning, Grassley, Hatch, Schumer, Snowe, Stabenow and Wyden losing bipartisan patience with China over a lack of a level playing field in currency, debts, patent piracy, procurement, small business, taxes and trade tariffs.
Senator Bunning in particular described Secretary Geithner as breaking the law by providing a required China currency report two months late.
Two months was less late than the years’ late Geithner income taxes, for which he received an IMF subsidy after signing an agreement to pay them, but did not pay them.
Mr Geithner paid the taxes without fines or penalty, just before he was nominated to Treasury, which oversees the IRS. Yet the same Senate Finance Committee and Senate confirmed him.
Thus, it became harder to take the Senate seriously on China Trade.
