In our Fifty Years of market experience, beginning by collecting Silver Dollars at a Buck each to preserve our labour, we learned the biggest mistake is buying a declining asset too soon, and the second biggest mistake is selling a rising asset too late.
In other words, the trend is our friend until it changes.
The market technique that prospers this is the Trailing Buy Stop that Buys when a falling asset reverses by a chosen percentage or points, and the Trailing Sell Stop that Sells when a rising asset falls by a chosen percentage or points. There is no magic number; just patient discipline.
As Baron Rothschild noted, he became wealthy buying too late and selling too soon.
